Writing on Factoidz

Factoidz, as far as I'm concerned, remains one of my most recommended writing sites out there, despite the heat it seems to be getting for, well, whatever reasons placed it on the stove in the first place. It sure pays for every article you write, according to the topic under which it is published and its SEO ranking, which is determined by various factors such as keyword density and the amount of back-linking to it. Basically, you can write almost anything under the sun, under the circumstance that everything must be factual and written in a professional manner, and that's asking quite a lot from me. Well, any endeavor worth taking doesn't necessarily mean it will be fun, does it?

And under the sun I've written almost everything, from Elvis trivia to comic book reviews throughout the 2 year course of my Factoidz membership. My fixation of late is doing product reviews, which isn't at all fun compared to everything else I've accomplished, and the only reason I'm expanding my repertoire here is the same reason I signed up in the first place: to earn more money. Product reviews are granted higher earning rates and an upfront bonus ranging from $5 to $20, the latter I'd assume being seemingly impossible a number to achieve by mediocre writers such as myself, and so my bonuses averaged around a solid $7, more money than my monthly residual income from Factoidz and Triond combined.

Product Reviews: The Good and The Bad

Here's the less than fun side of writing product reviews in Factoidz: after picking a subject, I am forced to sit for hours, researching various aspects of the given website, painstakingly elaborating every detail so that I look like I know what I'm talking about, and at the end of the day, an article is completed with a considerable bonus tied to it. I remember receiving as much every day during my time as a part time sales assistant, a position I find particularly straining, physically speaking. Not that I'm complaining; I was at the peak of my health, eating more than I could under normal, sedentary circumstances, and I'm not complaining about writing reviews in Factoidz; in fact, it's quite a godsend, to finance my various avenues for entertainment.

Recently, Factoidz incorporated product reviews into its self-publishing system, through which you can publish a product review immediately like any other article, considering you've already been approved for a staff writer position. You are, however, required to submit three trial reviews to be reviewed before qualifying yourself for such a benefit. Based on the quality of your trial submissions, you will also be assigned an auto-bonus, the value of which will be a constant bound to every subsequent product review and only adjusts in accord to any significant change in the quality of your writing.

In light of this recent change, Factoidz writers are at a no better position to exploit the system, and it is advisable that the limits set by the website should be adhered to, in order to preserve this privilege most writing platforms don't normally extend to writers. Everyone play nice, or no candy for the rest of the month.

Buzz It Up!

Among a range of unique features open for further abuse on Factoidz is the Buzz-it-up section, where you can choose to contribute to an article by putting it out there via at least two given social networking channels (Google+, Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, Digg, LinkedIn) before buzzing it up and not the opposite direction on Yahoo! buzz, Do this ten times and you'll receive one credit to submit one of your articles for Buzz-ups and a sweet Lamborghini to boot, though there were a few instances where people would skip the first step in order to expedite the Buzzing Up process.

This certainly further extends the quid pro quo concept as implemented by Factoidz, where instead of receiving votes on your article by voting on others, you receive Buzz-ups from your writing acquaintances by giving them yours, which can also be defined as a means of appreciating their efforts without actually doing so, that is, without reading what they wrote in order to justify your votes. I'm not implying that my articles are more deserving of them, as you can probably observe from this particular piece I have chosen to spun while I'm on a lunch break from Factoidz. A really, really, immensely long lunch break.

You do make more money with articles on Factoidz than here without any adsense nonsense. The downside is that you cannot do affiliate marketing or place your personal links to other articles, blogs, etc. My earnings there are triple than here and other article submission sites, without even posting a new article during an entire month.

Another downside is that once you submit, you can never get the article back even though Mike claims we have full rights.

Linda - I was able to get one of my articles removed last week. You need to submit a request and you must have a valid reason to remove the article. The reason is that you get paid up-front for the article, and they don't ask for your money back if you delete the article. Makes sense that they don't want people collecting payments then deleting all articles. They do take some time to respond, but they do respond to your request.
